The musicians from the local blues band Out of Favor Boys are putting out an invitation to Cajun bluesman Tab Benoit. Benoit, who performs at 8 tonight at the State Theatre, has been known to head over to Wonderful's, a blues bar at 2712 Portage St., following a gig. If he sticks to that routine, OFB will be waiting with open arms and a new CD. "Tab usually comes down. I can't remember any time he hasn't," OFB guitarist Dan Ouellette said. "We're banking on him coming down and jamming a little bit." OFB plays at 9:30 tonight and Saturday at Wonderful's, where they will release their newest CD, the 11-track "Can't Be Good." Its three covers include songs by Howard and The White Boys and Big Bill Broonzy. Ouellette said the CD is the band's version of contemporary blues, a la the Tommy Castro Band. It will be on sale for $15. Oh, and if bearded bassist Tim Brouhard (who looks like John Candy in "Wagons East!") seems to be thirsty, buy him a Howlin' Wolf.
